May 26 : Fave thing to do on a Sunday

May 26 : fave thing to do on Sunday -- weeding!! Rocking out in a J.Lo wide-brimmed hat! #fmsphotoaday #gardening #thisishowweroll

For now, when the weather is still not that crazy hot, I really enjoy getting on my hands and knees to pull out those weeds! I bought a big sun hat a while ago, and never got to use it at the beach. I dusted it off and wore it for the first time, and my oh my, how I loved it! The brim is so wide it covers my face, shoulders and even my arms! If the sun is right overhead, I'm pretty sure I can curl into a ball, under my hat, and the sun can't touch me!

Do I look #farmer enough? #gardening #funinthesun #howtowearaJLoaccessory
Here is the mother of all sun hats!

For weeding today I put my hair up in braids! @ktshobana It has been a beautiful sunny memorial weekend! Give thanks! #selfie #funinthesun #productivetanningsession
Some days I wear my hair in braids and keep it all up with a scarf!

Happy gardening and enjoy the beautiful Memorial Weekend!

May 14 : Need ...

May 14 : Need - A haircut!! #fmsphotoaday #badhairday #tocutornottocut
A haircut! That's for sure!

How do you wear your hair in the summer? I'm thinking temperatures are gonna soar pretty soon! Keeping it short should be the way to go, but I would like to let it grow out and really curl my hair for a change. It's been awhile and my hair is black, wavy, (crazy) and boring. And I'm at that awkward in-between stage - not too short but not quite long enough to do anything fancy! Pffft! Very frustrating!

'Tis the season...

Merry Christmas dear friends!

Hope you're all having a wonderful time with your loved ones! We're going up to the mountains to visit J's grandparents, have tons of homecooked food, and sit around the bonfire. I hope it gets colder (I can't believe I'm actually saying this), but 60 deg F is NOT feeling like Christmas.
We had SNOW last year. Today, I was prancing around in a short dress and leggings.

Definitely not feeling like Christmas.

I had been busy the last coupla' days sitting around and making accessories for my girlfriends for Christmas.

On my trip back to Singapore, I bought a yo-yo maker and OMG i couldn't stop making them. They're SO EASY to make! and such a great fabric stash buster idea.

If you have no idea what a yo-yo maker is, click here, or get one and have yourself hours of fun!!!

I actually brought my hoarded stash collection of buttons from Singapore and was glad they were put into good use! I made some hair ties, brooches and head bands.

This one is my favorite. I made it for my friend's daughter and I can totally picture her wearing a white dress with that on her head! Best of all, she's a little redhead so it'll totally stand out!

Sorry, not the best pictures, i know. But i did get many appreciative oohs and aahs over the accessories! Yay!

Have a wonderful Christmas and Happy Holidays!!!

It's time for a change

Long-haired is nice. But....

I love my new bob!

I was a very apprehensive about chopping my hair off. Haircuts can be a pretty nerve-wracking experience. I haven't been to a hairstylist in Singapore for ages (my old one moved and I lost his contact) so I didn't know who to go to. I also have very little hair, it always looks flat on my head when it's long and heavier. Plus, i had to look good at my friend's wedding (i was going to be the emcee, for the love of god!)

So a good hairstylist is essential.

Now a bob is good because it gives my hair more volume, and it's a style that i usually stick to (I'm not very adventurous like that). My mother recommended M, my recently married cousin's wife, who apparently gives very good bob cuts. Actually 2 of my 3 sisters have had their bobs done by her, so my fears were assuaged.

I'm actually very pleased with the cut and i think i should just stick to short hair from now. It's fuss-free!

This girl's got style!

Just finished watching 500 Days of Summer for the 2nd time. I love this movie for its killer soundtrack (lots of Regina Spektor!) and awesome Zooey Deschanel looks.

She's too cute! She always manages to pull off such gorgeous outfits that range from vintage chic to simple elegance. And her hair! *super envious* It always falls perfectly in place - curls and fringe and all!

Via. Effortless hair. *eek*

And did i mention Zooey's the 'She' in the musical duo She&Him? I want to catch them live in performance! i know they played in NC once. Just checked out their website. Sadly, no touring news. :(

BUT they've just finished a Christmas album. can't wait for that to be released. And the girl has a new TV show on Fox called The New Girl which premieres in September so if you're a fan don't forget to catch it!

Here's a goofy little video of Zooey Deschanel and Joseph Gordon-Levitt to my favorite She&Him tune! Enjoy!

Penny Saver Tip #1: Easy Snips

Made a hair appointment for the boy to go have his hair cut, and was sitting on the fence about getting a cut myself... While the J-man was getting his hair styled, I had half a mind to get our stylist to give me a quick trim. Alas, two ladies showed up just as I was about to open my mouth - they had appointments with our stylist too. So reluctantly i left the salon with J looking like a million dollars, and I, a frump.

I was mostly disgruntled with my fringe which was more than an inch over my eyes. I usually sweep it aside to keep it off my face, showing off the patch of unsightly high forehead above my eyes.

Frustrated, and in a spur of the moment, I grabbed a pair of scissors and snipped off the excess hair covering my eyes.

Minutes later...
